TIP #1:The four deadliest words to put on your site are “Welcome to our site”. The first thing that your visitors should see is a compelling reason to do business with you. Don’t write about yourself, write as if you are the person visiting your site.
TIP #2: Target your Web site to a specific audience, know your market. You have a lot of competition online so focus on something that makes YOUstand out.
TIP #3: A potential consumer will leave a Web site that takes to much time to “load” (i.e. appear on the screen). Typically graphics that are too big make a site slow. Optimizing them is easy, save them in JPEG format at 72 dpi, which will look just fine in most cases.
TIP #4: Make your Web site interesting, informative and easy to navigate. Consumers are usually looking for something specific and want to find it easily.
TIP #5:Update your site regularly if possible. Change the look slightly, add more products, offer different specials or provide more/different information. Give consumers a reason to keep coming back.
